About

Compiz Fusion is a collection of plugins and a configuration system for the Compiz compositing window manager for the X Window System. It was created from the remerging of Beryl into Compiz. It aims to port almost all of the features of Beryl to Compiz plugins, and continue to write further Compiz plugins.

There has yet to be an official release of Compiz Fusion, but preliminary packages are available.

The current website is at OpenCompositing, but it is expected to change soon to a more specific domain.

Warning. This article is meant for Ubuntu Feisty only and is therefore deprecated! Compiz-fusion comes standard in more recent Ubuntu versions, so don't use this article anymore! I would have taken this article offline if it wasn't for the fact that there are still some Feisty users out there who find this useful. If you're in the midst of upgrading from Feisty to Gutsy, read howto upgrade to Ubuntu Gutsy without breaking compiz-fusion!
